If the mailer does not work on your system just email the info to email@example.comThere is demand for a large yacht that would enable disabled people to experience real ocean sailing and possibly take part in a 'sail around the world' (TW) adventure.
Over the last 25 years to gain the required data and experience the DSA has conducted a number of smaller such adventure cruises that included to UK to Stockholm in Sweden, UK to Antalya in Turkey and most recently UK to Murcia in Eastern Spain.
TW is simply an extension to what we have already very successfully achieved on many occasions.
The logistics of TW are actually easier than our European adventures as we have been in regular contact with many of the 1000's of yachts that have already completed round the world voyages and documented the events, facilities and logistics. The DSA had to find everything themselves for Stockholm, Antalya and Spain voyages.
RUNNING COSTS - All the infrastructure is already in place and the DSA can use its existing fund raising platform fund the running (revenue) costs of the yacht.
THE YACHT - Over the last 25 years the DSA has designed, built and operated two ocean capable yachts and has gathered the data, knowledge, experience and more importantly a mandate from the client group to design, build and operate a large cruising yacht that can be sailed by any type of disability. Each wheelchair accessible cabin will have its own fully wheelchair accessible toilet and shower and all main parts of the yacht will be accessible as will be the yachts controls.
VOYAGES - The voyages will be broken into one, two and three week legs that start and end in major ports with easy access to travel facilities to and from the UK.
INDIVIDUAL COSTS - There could be a fee, possibly £50 per person per day to sail or you could be part of a 'boat share' scheme giving you use of the yacht for a certain time each year.
SAFETY - Although the yacht will be sailable by a person in a wheelchair, on the principal that 'if its easy for a wheelchair user - its easy for anyone' there will be a permanent crew of two able-bodied people on board to ensure safety and continuity. The crew's responsibility will be the yacht and not helping with a persons disability so if you need assistance in anyway you will need to bring someone with you for that purpose.
ANY DISABILITY OR OLDER PERSON IS WELCOME
